GEO Enhanced ("we", "our", or "the App") is a Shopify application that helps merchants optimise their product catalogs for AI-powered search and shopping assistants. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

When you install GEO Enhanced, we collect and store:

Store information — your Shopify store domain, store name, email address, currency, and plan details
Product data — product titles, descriptions, images, SEO fields, and variant barcodes, accessed via the Shopify Admin API solely to perform audits and AI enhancements
Session tokens — OAuth access tokens required to authenticate API requests on your behalf
Usage records — a log of AI operations performed (type, quantity, cost) for billing and your usage dashboard
Enhancement snapshots — original product field values captured before AI enhancement, retained for up to 7 days to enable rollback

We do not collect customer names, email addresses, order history, payment information, or any personal data belonging to your customers.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide the core features of the App (store readiness audit, AI product enhancement, GTIN compliance, policy generation)
To charge for AI operations via Shopify's billing API
To allow you to roll back AI enhancements to the original product data
To display your usage history in the billing dashboard

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, except as described below.

3. Third-Party Services

Anthropic (Claude API) — product data (title, description, images) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate AI enhancements. Anthropic's Privacy Policy applies.
UPCitemdb — product titles may be sent to UPCitemdb's free API to look up barcode/GTIN data. Their Privacy Policy applies.
Resend — if you contact support, your message and store domain are sent via Resend's email API. Their Privacy Policy applies.

No customer personal data is ever transmitted to any third-party service.

4. Data Retention

Enhancement snapshots are retained for 7 days, then automatically expire from display (and are deleted on uninstall)
Usage records are retained for 12 months for billing and dispute resolution
Session tokens are deleted immediately when you uninstall the App
All store data is permanently deleted within 48 hours of uninstallation

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@geoenhanced.com. We will respond within 30 days.

As required by Shopify, we respond to GDPR data request and data erasure webhooks automatically.

6. Security

All data is stored in a private PostgreSQL database. API credentials and OAuth tokens are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We do not log or store product content beyond what is necessary for the features described above.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
